1年前ぐらいから作ってきた楽曲です。ファンのみんなからいつ発売するの？とよく聞かれました。いろいろ心配しましたが、やっと発売できて嬉しいです。
 
Ｑ『DREAM』はどんな内容の曲ですか？
恋人との別れや感情を表した曲です。
 
Ｑレコーディングで苦労したことは？
1年前にレコーディングしたのですが、発音の難しいところがありました。でも祖母が日本人なので、できないわけがないと思いがんばりました。“し”とか“そ”に苦労しました。
 
 Ｑグループからソロになった気持ちは？
最初のうちは寂しいし、辛かったですね。控え室、ステージ、すべて一人になったので、なかなか慣れなかったです。でも、ステージでファンのみんなと会話するようになって、最近はずいぶん慣れました。
 
Ｑお兄さんからアドバイスはありましたか？
歌に関しては、発声についてよくアドバイスをくれます。
 
Ｑ作詞作曲はどこでどんな風にしていますか？
その時々で違いますが、最初は詞から考えます。夜中一人でいろいろ考えながら作ります。それにメロディをつけていきます。
 
Ｑ失恋の歌が多いようですが経験からですか？
いろんな感情の流れを意識して書いていますが、なぜか失恋の歌が多いですね（笑）。経験ではないです。
 
Ｑよく料理を作るそうですね
母の料理やキムチが美味しくて、料理するところをよく見ていたんですよ。それでキムチや、卵料理などを作るようになりましたね。実は中学生のころは料理人になろうと思っていました。
 
Ｑ演技にも挑戦したいですか？
もちろんです。今は大好きな歌でがんばって、それから挑戦したいですね。
 
Ｑダンスも見たいですが
今回の曲はバラードですが、年末までにはダンスもお見せしたいですね。
 
Ｑコラボしたい日本のアーティストは？
たくさん尊敬している方がいます。玉置浩二さんが大好きですね。もちろんオリジナルラブさんも。
 
 Ｑコラボしたい韓国のアーティストは？
兄です！本当に一番大好きなアーティストです。コラボしてみたいです。
 
 Ｑ好きな女性グループは？
女性グループは全部好きです。冗談ですよ（笑）。僕は若いときから芸能界に入ったので、同じ仕事をしている方ですからそういう感情にはならないです。得にはないです。全部好きです（笑）。
 
Ｑ九州や大阪や四国や名古屋の友人がぜひ地元に来てくださいと言っていますが。
本当に色々行きたいですよ。距離がありますから「今日行きますよ！」という感じにはならないですけど、でも僕行きたいと思ったら絶対に行きますから。ぜひ行きますから待っててくださいと言っておいてください。

Former leader of U-KISS, Allen Kibum, whose older brother is SS501 Kim Hyungjoon (Maknae), announced that it had been decided that his long-awaited Japan solo debut 'DREAM', which comprised of songs that he himself had work on the lyrics and song composition, would be released on December 26. The press conference was held on October 16 at esprive, Shinjuku.

Before the interview, a stage was unveiled, and on it, in front of the media as well as the fans, Kibum sang in gentle voice songs like 'I Love You', 'DREAM' and the other, a total of 7 songs, receiving a loud applause from the fans; and from then onward was the press conference (with fans' participation).

Q: What are your thoughts regarding the release of 'DREAM'?
A: It is a song composition which I worked on about 1 year ago. I have often heard the fans asking when it would be released. After worrying about various things, I'm glad that it is finally going to be released.

Q: What is DREAM about as a song?
A: It is a song about lovers who broke up and the feelings following the breakup.

Q: Did you have a hard time for the recording?
A: As the recording was done 1 year ago, I had problem with pronunciation. But since my grandmother is a Japanese, there is no reason for not being able to, so I worked hard for it. I had problem with 'shi' and 'so'.

Q: How do you feel about the change from being in a group to being solo?
A: Initially, I felt lonely inside, it was painful. At the waiting room, on the stage, I was alone in everything; by no means, it was hard to get used to. However, as I can have conversation with the fans on stage, nowadays I'm very used to it.

Q: Was there any advice from your brother? 
A: With regards to the song, he gave a good advice on vocalization.

Q: Where and how do you compose song?
A: I don't just do it at any given time. I start with thinking about the lyrics. As I am alone thinking about various things all night, I build it up. And then I add the melody.

Q: You made a lot of songs about heartbreak, is this from your own experience?
A: When I wrote a song, there was a flow of various emotions that came to my mind. Somehow, without knowing it, there were many of the songs about heartbreak *laughs*. It was not from my own experience.

Q: You are good in cooking, right?
A: My mom's cooking as well as her kimchi are very delicious. I often watched her cooking in the kitchen. Thereupon, I tried my hand at preparing some egg dishes and also kimchi. Actually, during my middle school years, I had thought of becoming a chef.

Q: Do you want to challenge yourself in acting, as well?
A: Of course. Now I'm working hard on singing, which I like the most, and then I want to do acting.

Q: I want to see you dance.
A: For this time round, the song is a ballad. By the year-end later, I will show you how I dance.

Q: Any Japanese artists whom you want to do collaboration with?
A: There are many that I respect. I like Tamaki Koji a lot. And of course, Original Love, too.

Q: Any Korean artists whom you want to collaborate with?
A: My brother! He is the number 1 artist that I like the most. I want to do collaboration with him.

Q: Any particular girl group that you like?
A: I like all of the girl groups. I'm joking *laughs*. I have joined the entertainment industry since I was young. As we do similar work, I don't harbour such feeling. It won't do good. I like them all *laughs*.

Q: Any words for our friends staying in Kyushu, Osaka, Shikoku and Nagoya who wish you to come and visit?
A: I have many places that I really want to go to. Due to the distance, I can't just say "I'm going today!", but I want to go, so I will make sure I'll go. So what I want to say is, please wait for me as I will make sure to go.

Q: Any goal for the future?
A: I don't worry about ranking that much. I want to do my best together with the fans.

10月16日に東京 新大久保・多目的ホールespriveにて、元U-KISSのリーダーでSS501のキム・ヒョンジュン（マンネ）を兄に持つ、シンガー・ソングライターのアレン・キボムが「日本ソロデビュー記者発表会」を行なった。

現在、毎週火曜日に同所にてライブを行っているが、2011年より語学力を活かしライブ活動、MC、ミュージカルやバラエティー出演など日本で精力的に活動している。12月26日に発売される日本ソロデビューシングル「Dream」では、アレン・キボム自身が作詞・作曲を手掛けた作品だ。

日本デビューに関しては、会見よりもひと足早くライブにてファンへ報告すると、待ちに待ったファンからの「心配していました」や「長い間待っていました」の安堵の声に、「『キボムの人生どうなるのかな』って心配した？」とおどけて見せ、「僕も21年待ちました」とファンと共に笑った。

その後行われた発表会では、記者以外からの質問にもユーモアを交えながらも、誠実に答える姿が印象的だった。

On February 23, 2011, it was announced that he had been withdrawn from U-Kiss and had left the agency. On September 10, for his first activity in Japan after going solo, he became the MC at KPOP Festival exhibition held in Sakurajima; without the help of an interpreter, he did the whole emceeing in Japanese, exhibiting his outstanding language ability. He was chosen to be one of the main cast of musical 'Kizuna~ Shounen yo, Daisho wo Idake!~' (Bond~ Boys, be Ambitious!~) held under the sponsorship of TBS from October 20-25 at New National Theatre Tokyo, throughout which, using Japanese in entirety, he acted the role of Allen, a transfer student from South Korea; thus, showing that in addition to singing and dancing, he was also an outstanding performer.There were many news coverage of the musical by '韓Fun' (Kan fun), '韓流ぴあ' (Hanryu pia), 'K-BOOM', 'K-ING', 'SIA' and other major Korean magazines as well as newspapers. On December 29, it was the first time ever for a Hallyu star to hold a premium live at Billboard Live TOKYO in Tokyo Midtown, which holds a global standard of selection of nation-wide and international top-notch artists. On January 5, 2012, he was introduced as a representative of Korean idols and made an appearance as Guest Diet Support in 'Beauty Colloseum: female artists earnest diet SP'  which was broadcast on Fuji TV; he was recognized by many. He appeared  as regular MC every Friday in 'MADE IN BS JAPAN Asia Love' which aired on TV Tokyo. A couple of days ago, Allen Kibum paid a visit to send his greeting to the editorial department of Kstyle.

Dressed in a refreshing white jacket and with a sparkling smile, Kibum greeted us with "Good morning~." Tall, fair complexion and small face; surely he looked like a prince. Not only looking like the splitting image of his older brother who was the maknae of SS501, even his expression and manner of speech were also similar. This further prooved that he was indeed the younger brother [of Kim Hyungjoon]  ^^

And so, from the conversation that we had with him, we managed to learn some tidbits about himself.

Kibum, who is still 21 years old, has already obtained an international driving license! He even tried driving in Japan. When asked with question like "Do you have a different personality when you are behind the wheel?", as he felt a bit mad when he had began driving, Kibum exclaimed in fluent Japanese "Angry MAX", making all of us who were present roaring with laughter, "But now since I'm an adult, I'm no longer like that!" he continued.

When asked "What is your no.1 way to get relaxation?", Kibum, who has to travel back and forth between Japan and Korea due to his busy activities, answered in a single word "Sleep". As compared to playing and eating, sleeping is still what he like the most. Being able to sleep anywhere is his special skill *laughs* "Right now, I can even fall asleep here at once if I'm asked to do so!" he stated while pointing at the floor. All the staffs who were present at that time were so shocked! Kibum, for the sake of your body, please sleep properly on the futon [sleeping mat] *laughs*

Regarding the fun of living in Japan, he quickly listed out the name of places that he remembered and he had wanted to visit. He said he wanted to go to not only Tokyo, but also the Tohoku region such as Akita and Aomori. In addition, as he visited Kagoshima in the past, he was so excited when talking about kurobuta, the specialty of Kagoshima.

From the beginning till the end, Kibum conversed fluently in Japanese and did not require the help of interpreter. He was really such a good natured and lovely person. Many times over, we could not believe our own eyes that he was really a 21 years old as his calm appearance and his ability to talk sense were so overwhelming; we were able to hold such a friendly conversation.

Kibum holds live performance every Tuesday at Shin-Okubo. "I feel so grateful to all my fans in Japan! From now on, too, I'll do my best!" he said with enthusiasm. He wished to show the fans a much cooler form in the future.

On the 29th, Allen Kibum (21), former member of Korean idol group U-KISS, hold his first solo public performance at Billboard Live Tokyo. Getting withdrawn from the said group earlier in February, he has been doing various activities such as emceeing and performing on stage musical. ２月に韓国の７人組ユニット、Ｕ－ＫＩＳＳを脱退したアレンは、今月下旬にミュージカル「絆－少年よ、大紙を抱け！－」に出演し、日本でソロ活動を本格スタート。

カレンダーでは、細マッチョな胸板やバスローブ姿に挑戦。「セクシーな感じで恥ずかしい」と日本語で照れ笑いした。

Being withdrawn from Korean's 7 members-unit group U-KISS in February, Allen had stage performance in musical "Kizuna -Shounen yo, Daisho wo Idake!- (Bond -Boys, be Ambitious!-)" recently in late October. He will start his full scale solo activity in Japan.

For the calendar, he challenged the pose of slim macho chest clad in bathrobe. "The sexy impression (left by the pictures)is embarrassing," he said in Japanese with a shy smile.

While half a year ago he could not hold a conversation in Japanese, he can now do so fluently with the locals as a result of watching drama; [the use of] everyday Japanese helps to hasten the learning process. With the intention of proceeding on with a full-blown activity in Japan from now on, "Drama, movie, DJ, music composition...I want to do all of them. I want to be an 'all-round entertainer' in Japan," he said.

특히 기범은 이번 K-POP Festival에서 그 동안 열심히 갈고 닦은 일본어 실력을 유감없이 발휘 할 예정이다. 기범은 "오랜만에 일본에서 팬들과 만날 수 있어서 설레고 기대 된다. 한국에서는 MC를 한 경험이 있지만 일본에서, 특히나 k-pop 페스티벌의 MC를 맡게 되어서 그 어느 때보다 잘 해야겠다는 마음이 크다. 일본어로 진행을 해야 하기 때문에 부담도 되지만 실수를 하지 않으려고 열심히 준비하고 있다"고 MC를 맡은 소감과 각오를 함께 밝혔다.

기범은 일본 활동을 시작으로 그 동안 사용하던 이름이 아닌 알렌이라는 이름으로 활동을 한다. 그는 "영어 이름이 Allen Kim 이었기 때문에 있는 그대로의 모습을 더욱 보여드리자는 생각으로 활동 이름을 직접 바꾸게 됐다. 새 이름이 생긴 만큼 새로운 마음가짐으로 열심히 활동할 생각이다"고 말했다.

한편 알렌은 내달 20일부터 25일까지 일본 신국립극장에서 열리는 뮤지컬 '키즈나'의 주연 배우로 캐스팅 돼 한국과 일본을 오가며 뮤지컬 공연 준비에 바쁜 나날을 보내고 있다.

Former U-KISS member Kim Kibum has revealed that he’ll be starting solo promotions in Japan under the new name, ‘Allen‘.

On September 10th, Kibum will be greeting his Japanese fans for the first time at the ‘K-Pop Music Festival 2011 in Kagoshima‘ as an MC for the concert. He’s planning to show off his Japanese language skills, which he’s been honing for some time now.

Kibum stated, “I’m excited and looking forward to meeting my fans in Japan. I have experience MCing in Korea but it’s my first time for a K-Pop festival in Japan, so I’m determined to do well. There’s a bit of pressure since I have to speak Japanese, but I’ll be working hard to make sure I don’t make any mistakes.”

He continued, “My English name was ‘Allen Kim’ so I changed my stage name to simply show who I am. I’m using this name change as an opportunity to start anew.”

Kibum is currently spending busy days traveling back and forth between Korea and Japan for his musical, ‘Kizuna‘.
